One of Steven Curtis Chapman`s least overtly religious albums, it is nonetheless ranks among his most stirring and spiritual efforts. Musically, Chapman is in absolutely top form, producing a collection of intensely catchy melodies as good as any in his extensive catalog. Though the production is as slick as ever, ALL ABOUT LOVE is never sappy, often recalling the finest work of refined heart-on-the-sleeve secular artists like Crowded House and Steve Winwood. Highlights include the Beatles/Elvis Costello-style workout of "You`ve Got Me" and Chapman`s pounding, New Wave-ish cover of the Proclaimers` classic "I`m Gonna Be (500 miles)". Steven Curtis Chapman – More To This Life $5.98 Formerly available on Sparrow (1201).More to This Life has a lot to offer. The songs are catchy pop/rock that sound, for the most part, as fresh now as they did at their release in 1989. "More to This Life" and "I Will Be Here" are the standout singles on this album. "More to This Life" is upbeat and inspiring and "I Will Be Here" is a tender love song; both are nicely produced and performed. The album could have been trimmed down a bit ("Treasure Island" and "Way Beyond the Blue" feel repetitive musically and lyrically), but overall, this is an album any CCM fan would enjoy. ~ Melinda Hill Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005.
